Linking in with Soule Mama.  A single moment.  No words. Maybe my new Friday ritual?

I am thinking I am going to change the garden share day to Tuesdays.... by the time Thursday comes, the weekend gardening has left my brain... and I forget what day of the week it is (like today - thought it was Wednesday - hence the late post).

We planted lots of goodness yesterday and the rain came overnight and throughout today to establish our little numbers.  But you will have to wait for Tuesday my dears.

the brink

Its the brink of my market season.  I am wondering if I can do it.  I have booked in two markets for most months.  Preparing stock, making, creating and family life is proving to be what I love doing.  I am feeling so blessed that it has come about that I can work from home.  I am working from home.  The hours I am putting in are beyond hobbyist now.

I am praying for provision.  For the blessing on the gifts bestowed on our little family.  People come along and give me encouragement.  Opportunities keep knocking.  Emails come through.  Thanks to you - the encouragement has really brought this Squiggly business full circle.  It is exciting to see how it grows and works and who it will bless.  Today I even considered maybe having to hire someone to package mini-garden kits... or maybe that is what children learning to earn pocket money is for.  Or not.

It's been a blessed week catching up with some lovely friends and two very delicious little ones, a winter picnic on the weekend with this lovely chicken.  Coffee at The General yesterday.  Miss G home sick today.  I figure my headaches are stemming from not wearing those glasses I was prescribed last year.... had best find them!

How is your week?

A lovely market goer took some pics of her girls creating their new garden - how precious!

My girl will be thirteen soon.  We are getting ready.  Pinterest we love, so much inspiration.  Miss G has signed up too and is pinning her ideas for what she wants.

Today we shopped at a close-by market.  Apples for $1 a kilogram, potatoes for 59cents a kilogram, why have I not been there before?  The children loved it.  We will go back again and bring our own Granny trolley.

This afternoon we chopped down some trees and started to stack the wood shed with wood.  Simple pleasures, so much fun with my husband and children by my side.  Bliss to us.

A roast is in the oven.  Movie night tonight.  We were looking for a movie.  Flipped crossed our minds - but Miss G tells me "Dad said it's not suitable, it's got something called masturbation in it; I looked on imdb".  Okay, let's find something else.  I like to protect my children, sure they may do it... or may not... but it's not really family movie night material.  Do you supervise and monitor what your children watch?

Inspiration pics via Pinterest.  Looking forward to decorating for a wonderful 13th birthday in a couple of weeks time!

Happy Saturday to you!

It's been a quiet week in our garden.  I did buy some new tools though at Aldi to chop some branches - they were super cheap and good quality.

Recovering from illness has it's downers, and then the rain... not much time spent gardening.

My potted veg are doing quite well - not being eaten by wildlife or bugs.

However we have been bird watching and have entertained Adam and Eve once again. We also had some new Rosella's visiting!

How's your garden frolics this week?

My first ever brooches.  I am happy with the end product.  Terrarium themed of course.

I seem to have recovered almost fully from the germs.... here's hoping!

What does this week hold for you?  I'm off to IKEA tomorrow.
I love your comments - thanks for saying hello!

The thing I love most about this mag, is that it is real.  Carla Read who is new to White says "It stands for: love and the value found in true, lovely relationships" - glad to be part of this Spring issue!  Thanks White!

for Mum

The marvels of the internet are amazing.  Just off the phone to my Mumma and I wanted to show her my second attempt at some brooches... So here they are Mum!

Terrarium brooches - what do you think? Handpainted on clay - still to be varnished and sanded.

sipping tea

I have succumbed to the children's cold or flu that they had all of last week.  I was asleep last night by 7pm - must be sick.  I can't even drink coffee.  The dishes are done though (well except for the soaking pot).  I've been sipping green tea with honey and lemon.

Rosella's are visiting this morning.

I must be on the mend now, I can read and doodle.  Brooches are on my mind, but something original - not the cut out bamboo that seems to be so popular.  It's at times like these I realise how much of our culture goes with trends.  My artistic mind doesn't seem to work that way!

Doodling, drawing, painting, it clears away all other goings on.  Using the couple of programs I tweaked my pics to this.

Stay tuned for my brooches (yesterdays effort have been scrapped and removed off fb... thanks ladies for your honesty)!  Have you escaped Winter without any sickness?

weekend frolics

It is rare that Mr DCT is home for a whole weekend, he works a rotating shift.  I feel spoiled to have him home.  We are enjoying this home of ours - it's only been about 7 weeks since we moved in... it's slowly taking shape.  Plans for chicken yards, flower gardens and spying what we think is a foxes den on our property are intriguing us all.  I think we may make a few phone calls to the department of sustainability this week and see what can be done.  On Thursday our chickens were making quite a racket, I stayed by the window to watch them.  Then turned away to fiddle with my craft table; upon looking back to them.... was a great big Daddy Foxy Loxy.  He was huge.  I saw a cub at our old house at dusk, but this was about 12noon.  Cheeky things.

Yesterday morn, we had our first King Parrots visit.  They were amazing - the colours divine.  This is Eve, Master J did the naming.

And her husband Adam.

Master S always surprises me with his bravery and facing new challenges when I least expect.

Oats were all we had... must add seeds to the shopping list.

Now for Miss G's turn... but they decided oats weren't very nice.

And they flew away.

Miss G had her first Irish dancing competition after dancing for 7 months.  Her classical background has helped - she is gorgeous to watch and felt happy with her 5th place award!

Today we are about to hit the garden - a much loved new weekend tradition it seems.

What are you up to today?

latest works

I haven't shared my creations for a while - as  you know I am gearing up for market season.  I had my largest parcel arrive today - 100% sustainable PET cushion inners from innergreen.  Fabric arrived yesterday... next week I am hoping for more goodies... patience is not my virtue at the moment awaiting parcels.

Here are the newest cushions to the collection...

And new smaller sized terrariums - I am so happy to find a steady supply of glassware!

One more week until the latest edition of White Magazine is out.... have a look for Squiggly Rainbow!

What are you creating today?

Love Rach x
